UNITY IN THE COMMUNITY
BACK TO SCHOOL EVENT
The A. J. Harris Empowerment Academy works with businesses in our community to present Unity in the Community. This FREE outreach event is designed to gather families, small businesses and organizations in our area together, building a sense of pride to all our residents. We provide backpacks full of school supplies, games and prizes as well as entertainment for all, while getting our youth ready for another successful school year.

KIDS ZONE
Tuesday, August 5, 2025, from 5:30pm -7:30pm, we had the opportunity to partner with the City of Kannapolis for our fifth back to school event. The event was planned to be a Veterans Park in Kannapolis, NC. However, due to the weather the event was moved to the beautiful Swanee Theatre in the heart of downtown Kannapolis.

Instead of providing book bags as in previous years, we provided snack packs filled with items for the youth to start the school year with, including a water bottle and additional community resource passes.
​
We were still able to play games with the youth with an indoor obstacle course with prizes at the end.
2024

Family Field Day
Saturday, August 3, 2024, from 2pm-6pm we held our fourth free community event back at Bakers Creek Park in Kannapolis, NC. This Outreach event was designed to bring families, businesses, & organizations in Cabarrus County together to build a sense of pride and unity for all its residence.​

- We serviced almost 300 guests.
- Provided free bookbags full of school supplies
- Fed hundreds of quests
- Played games with the kids & offered prizes
- Partnered with an outreach organization
- Music and entertainment for all who came
- Networking opportunities & Vendors
- Community resources
- Celebrating our many sponsors and volunteers

Family Field Day
Sunday, August 3, 2024, from 2pm-6pm we held our third free community event back at Bakers Creek Park in Kannapolis, NC. Our guest liked the exclusivity of having the entire park for the event. This Outreach event was designed to bring families, businesses, & organizations in Cabarrus County together to build a sense of pride and unity for all its residence.​
- We were able to partner with a community Barber Shop and local organizations this year
- We serviced over 200 guests
.- Provided free bookbags full of school supplies
- Fed hundreds of quests before the weather changed
- Played games with the kids & offered prizes
- Music and entertainment set the atmosphere
- Networking opportunities​
